Carmelo Anthony Breaks New York Knicks Scoring Record With 62 Points

Midway through the fourth quarter against the Charlotte Bobcats, Carmelo Anthony has broken the New York Knicks single-game scoring record with 62 points. Melo broke Bernard King’s record of 60, which was set in a loss to the Nets on December 25, 1984.
The 62-point performance also sets the high scoring mark for all games at the current Madison Square Garden, eclipsing Kobe Bryant’s 61 points from February 2, 2009.
Coach Mike Woodson pulled Anthony after his record-setting shot, and it is unclear if Melo will re-enter the game. Either way, this was a performance for the ages.
Anthony’s current statline reads 23-of-35 from the field, 6-of-11 from three point range, 10-of-10 from the free throw line, 62 total points, and 13 rebounds. The Knicks lead the Bobcats 116-80 with under four minutes left in the game.
ESPN Stats & Info tweeted out this crazy shot-chart after Anthony left the game:
Carmelo Anthony taken out with 62 points, record for current version of Madison Square Garden.
