Corridors Of Power

Friday, August 30, 2013 - 00:00 -- BY THE POLITICAL DESK
Police are looking for an Italian man accused of stealing close to Sh500 million from his employer in Milan city in Italy. The man has reportedly been hiding in Kenya under the protection of some bigwigs in government. The police do not seem to be looking too hard for the man and neither is he really hiding since he has openly purchased two homes—one in Malindi and another in Mombasa where he and his daughter have been the guests of a top government official.

Is it ignorance, incompetence or sheer malice? http://www.aneki.com/ a website that ranks countries across the globe and keep records of various happenings, has, in its comparison of Kenya and Singapore used the photo of former Libya President Muammar Gaddafi to claim he is the President of Kenya and even captioned it as “President Uhuru Kenyatta”. Gaddafi, the deposed leader of Libya, died on October 20, 2011 during the battle between his troops and rebels who were backed by western nations. The two men do not have any resemblance at all!

Technical University of Kenya might need to explain why they have not issued 52 of its with their certificates since months after they graduated. The Bachelor of Technology Information graduates are anxious to get their certificates and cannot understand the delay since their colleagues from other departments who also graduated at the same time have already received their certificates.

Parliament has not escaped from the English Premier League fever that annually sweeps the country. Two former MPs—Joseph Misoi and Andrew Kiptoon who regularly visit Parliament have become the in-house EPL analysts. They are usually spotted animatedly discussing the various teams performances, transfers etc in the lobby of the National Assembly. Their discussions tend to attract the attention of many MPs who usually stop by to listen to the analysis, merits and demerits of either the Chealsea or Man U players and managers.
