Corridors Of Power

SATURDAY, APRIL 27, 2013 - 00:00 -- BY POLITICAL DESK
Remember the North Rift aspirant whose source of wealth Corridors questioned? Well, he made it into the 11th Parliament. Now the young MP has hit another jackpot. We are told the man is dating a prominent woman politician and entrepreneur who is housing him. Just how the young man has managed to strike goldmines was the subject of heated debate in the precincts of Parliament on Wednesday.

When President Uhuru Kenyatta talked of transformation in government, some of his close associates took him a bit too literally. The Cabinet Secretary for Mining nominee Najib Balala has transformed his physical appearance! The former Tourism minister has dyed his greying hair black and shaved off his beard. The question on everyone's lips is: why the makeover?

A Nyamira governor hopeful is an angry man after he failed to capture the seat. The man also did not manage to garner enough support for county assembly speaker. He blames his campaign team for misleading him. However, they say he was over-confident and went to great lengths to discredit his opponents.

Catching the National Assembly Speaker’s eye is quite a task. Out of 349 members, only about 160 were able to take part in the presidential speech debate. Nyeri women’s rep Priscilla Nyokabi even made a joke of the situation when she wrote on her facebook page that the number of times she has been standing to try and catch the Speaker’s eye have made her lose some weight. “I will try harder to catch the eye of the Speaker or try a better strategy - lodge a motion and do a maiden speech as I move the motion around issues I have worked on like the freedom of information bill. On this issue of catching the eye of the Speaker, it matters not if you see the Speaker, the Speaker has to see you to grant you a chance to speak, its not an easy task but soon I will catch the eye of the Speaker,” she said.
