Karua claims State swindling Kenyans

By ADOW JUBATThe Government is swindling the public to defend post-election violence suspects, says Gichugu MP Martha Karua.
Karua said it would be a waste of taxpayers’ money to pay legal fee for the ‘Ocampo Six’, while neglecting thousands of displaced families.
Speaking in Garissa during the opening of a county party office for Narc-Kenya, Ms Karua said funds wasted on the Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka-led shuttle diplomacy was enough resettle IDPs and address drought in northern Kenya.
"The Government should also show the same determination in dealing with drought and the IDP issues," she said.
"It is unfortunate one wing of the coalition is concerned with protection of the six, while neglecting the plight of those uprooted from their homes by violence," she said.
The former Justice minister blamed the Government for poor planning in terms of preparedness to deal with drought. The drought has so far claimed thousands of livestock.
"If those in leadership were serious with addressing the plight of the pastoralists, they would think of constructing big water reservoirs to collect water that goes to waste during rains," the Gichugu MP added.
At the same time, Karua dismissed alliance between some political bigwigs, saying they were based on tribal ideology.
"We must avoid falling into tunes with politicians, who want Kenyans to believe in political dynasties. Every Kenyan must enjoy the privilege to lead," she added.
