DON WOUNDED

The Principal of the Kenya Polytechnic University College is admitted to hospital following an attack by gangsters who shot at him as he drove home on Monday night.

Police said Prof Francis Aduol was attacked near Mzima Springs in the up market Muthangari estate at about 9pm.

“He reported that his vehicle was blocked by another one driven by gangsters who robbed him of a mobile phone and other personal effects before they shot and wounded him,” a police officer said quoting details in the Occurrence Book at the Kilimani Police station where the incident was reported.

“The Professor was shot on the thigh and was rushed to the Nairobi Hospital,” the officer added.

Another police officer told Capital News that the gangsters who shot the Professor had earlier carjacked employees of the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) and used their vehicle to block the college don.

They are reported to have abandoned the vehicle on Amboseli Road but they did not harm the KPLC staff members. Nairobi Provincial Police Chief Antony Kibuchi told Capital News that no suspect had been arrested following the shooting.

“An investigation has been launched, but we have not been able to find them” he said.

Prof Aduol was said to be out of danger in hospital.

Efforts to get a comment from the Kenya Polytechnic University College management were futile as telephone calls to the Principal’s office went unanswered.

A student at the institution told Capital News they had learnt of the shooting but no official communication had been made to them from the administration.

“There have been reports about an attack on our Principal since morning but we have not been informed officially, I do not have the details at all,” the third year student said.
