CHOLERA

Eight people have been confirmed dead while 213 others are being treated at the Msambweni district hospital following a cholera outbreak in Msambweni district, coast province.

According to the District Medical Officer Kevin Kinyua, the outbreak started at Shimoni area and has spread rapidly to other parts of the district.

The area medical officer however says health officials are doing all they can to control the outbreak.

Officials from the ministry of health as well as the coast water board have been working to chlorinate all wells and water pans, and have called on residents to ensure all drinking water is property treated before consumption.

Over 1300 people are suspected to be infected with Cholera in the greater Msambweni district following an outbreak of the disease early this week.
